Bonobos Ties - Coming This Holiday Season

Bonobos, the Cali-born clothing line that specialized in pants from the start, tweeted a couple of sneak-peek photos of its inaugural fall/holiday tie collection yesterday. Ties are a first for the company, but they're making a statement with bold, condensed prints and colors that look straight out of the Wonka factory. (See: the plaid silk tie in aqua and fuchsia third from the right... Delicious.)

Adding poppy Bonobos style to classics was key for this collection. Brad Andrews, Bonobos' vice president of merchandising, says the goal for the tie collection is to break away from plaids in tartan, cotton, and wool and to stick with silk, which really makes the plaids and bright colors stand out even more. "What's happening in the market, there are these classic rep stripes and wools, and we wanted to add a twist to that," he says.

Available in late August online, the New York-made tie collection will go on sale alongside ties from Gitman Bros and Ernest Alexander with a price range from $68-78 for ties and $58 for bow ties. It stays true to a classic prep look, but its minor upgrades from that style make all the difference.

Fun fact: "Bonobos," in case you were wondering, is also a type of Congolese chimpanzee.
