"My husband's birthday is coming up, and he is always saying how he needs a nice sturdy umbrella. I offered to buy him one from Target, but he keeps saying how he wants one that will last him a long time. He's a lawyer. Thoughts?"
I have managed to hold on to a Black Fleece tartan bumbershoot for a year or so. Its distinctive pattern seems to shout "Yo!" as I'm heading for the exit, and hopefully its uniqueness will deter accidental theft, so often the case with black umbrellas. I usually use a golf umbrella, because they are big and strong. Unfortunately they are often emblazoned with some awful logo. Probably the best is the Coolibar titanium golf umbrella, which has a broad span, sun protection, a double canopy for wind stability, and no logo; it runs about $45.
