You Can Judge a Man by His Shoes

By the editors of MSN Living Jul 24, 2012 9:26PM

The Editors, GQ Magazine
They reveal whether he takes pride in the little things. If he throws on a nice suit and pairs it with cheap, clunky lace-ups, he's not what you'd call a detail man. And if he leaves his pricey wingtips scuffed and unpolished, he may not be the closer you're looking for.

There are numerous styles of shoes out there, but what's great about being a man is that you can do perfectly well by sticking with just a few. You don't need to maintain some Carrie Bradshaw–esque obsession about the latest and coolest. If you invest in a handful of sensible (and stylish) pairs and take care of them, you'll be set for years. You just need to take that first step.

Let's talk shape. If you're still walking around in square-toe, rubber-soled lace-ups—the kind you buy on the cheap and that make you look like you've got platypus feet—grab them from your closet and toss them.

Seriously. your shoes should be as streamlined as the rest of your wardrobe. That means a slim contour (but not painfully skinny) and a rounded (but not sharp) toe. They'll look stylish, tasteful, and masculine. And that's all you can ask for.

Welcome to the 21st century, where we judge a man by his shoes rather than his character.

i agree to a point, because most women do look a guy from head to toe.but, before anyone can pass judgement, what if a guy is struggling, only has one or two pairs of shoes and cannot afford to keep them spitshined and edged up with edge dressing?....maybe he is trying his best to better himself by working odd jobs..so many different scenarios..so before we judge a person by their shoes, lets try walking in their shoes for awhile..

You consider whether or not you want ot be around someone based on personality, deportment, intelligence, level of responsibility, work ethic, honesty, and so on. Not shoes or hair or any other article of clothing. My shoes, as well as my husbands, should anyone be shallow enough to "read" them, say only one thing: We work hard for what we have. Period.  Anyone thinking differently can go "polish their shoes".

Our society is hung up on appearances , and it's all for show . It's whats inside a person that counts , always has and always will .
