Nail expert Ji Baek says it only takes one germ to wreak havoc on your nails! So, listen up.

Rescue Your Nails; Photo courtesy of RescueBeauty.comYeah, yeah, I've heard it all before. You don't do your own nails because you don't know how to do your own nails. Right?

Well, here's the deal: if you're going to less-than-doctor's office-clean nail salons that don't disinfect the metal nail tools after every use (emery boards are single use only) for the sake of perfectly-painted nails, you're risking getting nail fungus.

And that's not pretty! I don't care how perfect your nails or toes are painted.Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polish; Photo courtesy of Rescue Beauty Lounge

Zac Posen Target; Photo courtesy of SRK/REX PhotosHere's a date you want to remember: April 25. That's when Zac Posen's collection for Target hits stores.

Standout items from the collection include colorful little dresses for day and glam dresses for night—like Target's first full-length gown for $70, as well as tuxedo pieces and swimwear.

Prices range from $35 for a tie-dye print one-piece swimsuit to $200 for a red leather jacket.Zac Posen Target; Courtesy of LaForce Stevens It's a steal considering his high-end designer pieces retail for $1,000 and up.

The French house's latest spring colors are inspired by Shanghai.

Chanel Black and Gold Nails; Photo courtesy of ChanelWhen it comes to nails, nothing says chic like Chanel.

The French house's latest spring nail colors are black and gold, part of the limited-edition Noir et Or Paris-Shanghai Collection.

Inspired by the Chinese film In the Mood for Love, by producer Wong Kar-Wai with Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, the collection is a study in contrasts.

The black nail color, called Black Velvet, is matte and absorbs light, while the shiny gold shades reflect light, including the satiny Gold Lamé and sparkling Illusion d'Or.

Chanel's Global Creative Director Peter Philips explains the movie's inspiration for the dramatic and bold look.

"The women are elegant but also release a warrior-like force," Philips says. "In the opening of the [movie], the garments worn by the models evoke that of the Soldiers of Eternity. It was therefore necessary to translate this attitude in the makeup."

Mario Badescu is giving three Simply Chic readers a face SPF and summer lotion!

Mario Badescu Suncare SPF 30; Photo courtesy of Mario BadescuWhen it comes to facials and skincare, I'm pretty opinionated.

I've had my pores extracted and steamed at a spa in Paris, got a lymphatic facial massage while on a ski trip in Courchevel and endured a hard clay mask and hot sauna in Seoul. All in the pursuit of beauty.

Yet, none of these spa experiences have left my skin looking as bright and glowing as one of the basic $65 European facials at the Mario Badescu Salon located on NYC's Upper East Side.

A study finds that women spend nearly 26,000 hours shopping. Yes, shopping.

A new survey by a marketing firm says that over a 63-year lifespan, the average woman will spend about 2 years and 10 months shopping for food, clothes and more. To be exact, that's 25,184 hours and 53 minutes.

That's a lot of time shopping. And you don't need to be a shopaholic like me to start racking up those hours spent shopping.

Researchers found that women make 301 shopping trips each year, buying food on 84 of those times, totaling 94 hours and 55 minutes.

Would you spend almost $1,000 for cashmere sweatpants?

Michael Kors Fall 2010; Photo courtesy of Style.comSweatpants for $995?

Even in this economy, there will most likely be a consumer for Michael Kors' cashmere sweatpants, shown here at his Fall 2010 runway show.

Cashmere or not, they look like sweatpants, or MC Hammer pants, and they cost nearly $1,000. Other designers, including Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, Rick Owens and more, are doing their versions of the casual pants retailing between $200 to $500.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported on this trend, saying "this new breed of sweatpant is intended to be worn proudly in public with blazers, dressy tops and high heels."

Shu Uemura's Satin Glow Radiant Stick gives a soft, shimmery finish.

Shu Uemura Satin Glow Radiant Stick; Photo courtesy of Nordstrom.comWhen it comes to makeup, shiny is better. That said, here's a product I've been meaning to write about: Shu Uemura's Satin Glow Radiant Stick.

With its creamy texture and convenient stick application, no wonder it's a favorite with leading makeup artists across the globe.

Think subtle shine (good), not strong shine (bad). Soul Lee, principal makeup artist at Shu Uemura, recommends applying the Satin Glow Radiant Stick directly onto skin from the stick.

Would you rather your necklace be made in some factory in India or by an artisan you know, in an Oregon workshop?
