What better way to celebrate the onset of the weekend than to talk about some seriously fabulous, luxurious makeup?

Why do some cost in the hundreds while others are dirt cheap?

Emilio Pucci bikini; Photo courtesy of Netaporter.comNothing says summer quite like a bikini. But ever wonder why some bikinis cost $10 while others retail in the hundreds of dollars?

This fabulous Emilio Pucci bikini, for instance, is $330 at Netaporter.com. I get it, it's Pucci, but how can these tiny pieces of fabric cost so much? The fabric is nylon and elastane—what most swimsuits are made of. So what's the deal?

The New York Times recently analyzed the extreme price differences of bikinis, saying the answer lies in swimsuit technology—or the ability for some fabrics to wear better than others.

Summer-scented nail polishes, South of France-inspired palettes, and more.

Revlon Scents of Summer; Courtesy of RevlonCertain things make me really happy—new makeup is one, and fun nail polish is another.

So I am beyond excited to tell you about Revlon's lineup for summer. The first launch I'm most thrilled about is the company's sweet-smelling nail polish collection, retailing for less than $5 a bottle. Remember smelly markers? Well, these are just as good—and now your nails will smell good, too. The colors, pictured above, range from brights to soft pastels—such as Grape Icy, which smells like, you guessed it, grape, Bubble Gum, a hot pink, and Cotton Candy, a soft pink like the sugary treat. The colors are all so perfect for summer, and getting a whiff of, say, Peach Smoothie, while painting your nails makes the whole process even more fun. "Nails are so big right now. They're almost like an accessory, like a fun new nail color," said Gucci Westman, Revlon's global artistic director at a Revlon summer preview in NYC early last week. The Scents of Summer collection is available in drugstores through July—get it while it lasts.Revlon DayDreamer Collection; Courtesy of Revlon

M.A.C is known for awesome makeup. The company is also known for its limited edition collections like the collaboration with Liberty of London and its upcoming partnership with Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia (launching July 8).

The company's most recent collection however, appropriately called To The Beach, launched May 27, is already heating up make-up cases and bathroom counters everywhere!

It's pricey, but the Brazilian Keratin Treatment is gaining momentum. Here's the lowdown.

La Brasiliana; Photo courtesy of La BrasilianaSummer—the heat and humidity means unmanageable, unruly hair for many gals.

And if you have hair that’s prone to frizz, it seems no amount of anti-frizz product can tame your tresses during the hot summer months.

I would fall into the latter category: thick hair that’s coarse, wavy and frizzy. Always searching for a means to smooth my unruly hair, I got the Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment at the Ted Gibson Salon in NYC, where the actual brand formula the salon uses is La Brasiliana Keratin Treatment with Collagen.

Bad color? Snapped it. Highlights too brassy? Caught that too. And of course, roots. We all love roots.
