Headbands with ears

No, you're not hallucinating: This trend is actually happening.

Well, girls, you no longer have to wait until Halloween to put on a pair of bunny or cat ears, because your favorite stores are selling headbands with ears as we speak, as regular hair accessories (not costumes). And no, it does not appear they are joking. They are dead serious. Apparently, ear headbands are an honest-to-goodness mainstream trend.

This one's from BCBG Max Azria (one of my go-to sources for cocktail dresses to wear to weddings -- can you imagine if I rolled into the church with these on as well?).

Go ahead and scroll through a few more wild examples, and please do not overlook the fact that one of these costs $900 on sale.

Now, it's not like this is the first time ears have ever popped up in the fashion world. We've seen them on the runway, with designers like Marc Jacobs adding them as a quirky attention-getter, and back in August I wrote about a random Asos cat-ear headband I found oddly appealing (you guys agreed it was cute, but only as costume-wear). But who knew they'd become so widely available all the sudden? I've yet to see anyone actually wearing them while walking down the street, though, so maybe retailers are barking up the wrong tree with this idea.

Now it's time for you to tell me what YOU think about this ear-headband business. Is there any way you'd ever wear one of these things? If so, where and how? I need details.
