Porn Stars Offer Advice at Relationship Workshops

In NYC, couples are learning lessons from porn industry pros.

Photo: Josh Rosenberg/DNAinfo.comPorn stars seem an unlikely bunch to dispense relationship advice, but that's just what they're doing in a New York City-based series of workshops. And hear them out—it's not all about sex (but a lot of it is).

Since 2010, popular porn actresses have been taking over the lecture circuit, heading to NYC's West Village to host "Porn Star Sex Life." The name may be explicit, but the topics aren't always X-rated. Founder Josh Rosenberg claims that in addition to sex, he and his harem of porn princesses are revitalizing relationships, one couple at a time.

"We've really helped a lot of people," Rosenberg, 30, told DNAinfo.com. "We're helping couples reignite their passion."

While the premise of the workshop is obviously centered on sex, the lectures apparently encompass much more. After all, relationship behaviors like communication and understanding are a big part of a healthy sex life (presuming your sex life is not a career).

“It’s just caring for your partner,” Rosenberg said. “It’s really understanding what’s going on in your partner’s head.”

At $1,000 a ticket, I'd hope to leave with the ability to read my partner's mind. The cost is pricey, yes—but these ladies are staples of their industry, and, well, their time is worth a lot. The workshop is also an all day event.

In addition to relationship topics, the gals also dispense advice on dating, revealing the inner workings of the female brain to lovelorn men.

"It was everything—that's what they workshop was about," one attendee told DNAinfo. "Not just the sex, but things that make women want to be open with you."

According to a female attendee, "It's just information. 'Don't do that, do this instead.' And I thought that was really helpful."

And she makes a sensible point:

"I take lessons for tennis, people take lessons for the piano. Why wouldn't people take lessons for one of the most important things in their lives?"

True, but why get advice from porn pros rather than relationship experts?

"It's a lot sexier than a lecture," Rosenberg explained.

Can anyone tell me why is it that every (no token, please!) dumb "Sex-Performer/actor" of the "OH-YA" industry who's been part of more that 2 sex scenes is called a PornStar? Porn Star? Marylin Monroe was a STAR, like E.Taylor! Sex-performers/actors and on-screen prostitues as relationship experts? Americans are so screwed-up and confused that they should be added to the Endangered Species List, ASAP! Focol (for crying out loud...) why not go to the prisons and jails and use inmates as "crime-expert counselors"? LOL...It should be free!  And please don't mention tv programs did that since it was to shouw the consequences and the down-side of a life of crime...Maybe they should do that for PORN too!

I also watch porn, by the way...like everybody else just as I drive over the speed-limit on the H'way sometimes! Get it?

This is funny. I watch porn and like all other forms of media, the players are people that have a knack for a certain "thing" they can do. Does that make them experts on relationships? Probably not. That would be on an individual basis. Does it make them experts on making money? Maybe, and it sounds like this is what this is all about. Anyone that has watch porn can figure from watching closely, most of it is the most unrealistic form of sexual encounter you will find. (Directed and in front of a camera). If you wanna talk to a porn star, take your thousand dollars and go rent one. Asking one for dating advice is a little off center. Unless you have a porn star body. Them maybe you'll get porn star results.

Porn stars are actors.  And I suspect they make pretty good money.   That puts them right  in the category of many executives/CEOs that I have been "priviledged" to meet.   Some of you think you know what is "human" and what is not.  I suspect many of these actors are more in touch with who they are than many of the pretenders out there.   Oh, and for all the "church ladies" out there, how many of you have found that your husband likes porn.  "They" know how to get results.

Porn Stars, giving counsel on real marital relationship? Give me a break!
First, they have no moral qualifications whatsoever in this premise.
Second, their stock in trade have ruined many marriages, polluted the young people
and continue to misinform on what sex is.Third, they have taken the idea of the freedom of speech to the extreme and asking so much money for what they barely understand.
If you think, you really know what you are talking about tell other people around the
globe about your seminars and see who takes you seriously.
I do not watch porn, so if you depend on people like me to feed, you will certainly die of hunger.

Alcohols know more about the problems and effects of alcohol than someone who just drinks socially. Drug addicts know more about the problems and effects of drug abuse. Why can't an intelligent sex addict give advise about relationships and sex???? i.e. porn star

I read on my home page a few months ago about the IQ of several people we know. One famous porn star had an IQ of 152. Compare that to Albert Einsten of 160. Or George W. Bush of 125. Sarah Palin of 121. I think you get my point. Just because you choose porn as a means to the end does not mean you are a dumb blonde (or brunette or redhead) and can't give good important intelligent advice.

11 style rules to break right now

You already know wearing white after Labor Day is cool. But menswear is reinventing itself rapidly, leaving some long-held mandates by the wayside, not to mention a bunch of men with a lot of questions. Sure, some style laws are truly inviolable. Showing a quarter-inch of cuff will always be crucial, but with designers and dandies flaunting so many former taboos it's hard to tell what's in play these days. So we thought we'd take this opportunity to let you know which rules no longer apply.
