The weirdest runway fashions of 2012
Couture creations got more than a little crazy this past year.
We here at the Simply Chic blog aren’t above going a little “Simply Freak” sometimes, and the NY Daily News has a piece out that fits that mood perfectly. They’ve compiled a wild and wonderful collection of some of the kookiest creations to creep down a catwalk in the past year.

Check out their gallery and revel in weird designs whose wow factor is likely only surpassed by their price tags. Our freaky faves include a Baroque-style carved wooden dress (wouldn’t want to sit down in that), an oversized heart face mask by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, and a “bejeweled bondage” gas mask from Chinese fashion house She Guang Hu. Some of the looks are gorgeously surreal – we’re digging the butterfly and autumn leaves accessories from Giambattista Valli and the stunning verdant vision from Lady Gaga fave Fyodor Golan.

The best swimsuit for your body type—yes, yours!
When morning talk shows and local newspapers dole out their seasonal swimsuit shopping advice, I’m usually pretty disappointed by the lack of body types represented. What about the women who don’t resemble fruit? (Or aren’t boy-shaped—the third “one of these things is not like the other” category I’ve never quite understood. Couldn’t they say “banana?” Or is that somehow more offensive than “apple” and “pear” shapes?)
