Steggy the Stegosaurus gets a fashionable makeover

You'll never guess what Cranbrook Science Museum workers found in the dinosaur exhibit yesterday morning.

Think back to the last time you visited a natural history museum—did you ever notice just how naked all those poor dinosaurs were? In case you did, you're not alone.

Yesterday morning, the team at the Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, MI, opened up the dinosaur exhibit to find that "Steggy," the museum's Stegosaurus model, yarn-bombed.

Yes, it seems that overnight, the small-headed spiky-'saur was given a fashionable makeover—complete with rainbow leggings, an eye patch, scrunchies, bracelets, and a tail pom-pom! According to note left at the scene, the adorable accessories were knit by someone called "Jenn."

All in good fun, the museum's staff have decided to leave the exhibition as is until this Sunday, September 22nd—so if you're in town, definitely check out Steggy's new look! We think it's totally adorable!

I love yarn.  I make blankets and donate them to the Red Cross.  Yarn is so comforting.  I bet those animals wished they really had yarn blankets when the ice age moved through!

You left out the most important part of the story, broadcast on our local radio stations (I live near Cranbrook), which  was the artist's explanation of "why Steggy" - Because he inspired her to study science in college!
