Car ads warn that applying makeup while driving can be deadly
Kia ads warn of the dangers of multitasking while driving.
Kia has released a new advertising campaign that will make you think twice about putting makeup on while driving.
According to the Huffington Post, it’s Kia Canada, specifically, that warns of the dangers of driving-while-applying-makeup in its latest series of ads. In the print ads, the company shows cosmetics such as lipstick and mascara that have been morphed into lethal weapons, like one that shows a tube of lipstick that comes in the shape of a bullet. "Applying makeup while driving can be deadly," says the tagline.
The ads have gotten mixed reviews so far, with some people believing that they are too over the top and sexist. But others say this is the kind of brutally honest advertising that will leave a lasting impression. After all, a video spot produced by Volkswagen says 500,000 road crashes per year are the result of women applying makeup while driving.
Tell us: Would you ever apply makeup while driving? Do you think this campaign is effective?
