Katie Couric is baring it all on her show tomorrow! She’s going makeup-free to interview Phoebe Baker Hyde, author of the new book The Beauty Experiment, where she gave up makeup, new clothing, jewelry and more. Instead of applying Katie’s beauty staples—like Lancôme concealer, Laura Mercier eye shadows and L’Oréal mascara—the talk show host is simply cleansing her face in the morning with Dove face wash and Lancôme moisturizer.

“I’ve been on television for a while now, but this is a first for me! No makeup…what am I thinking?” Couric told InStyle.com exclusively. “But the average American woman spends $12,000-$15,000 on beauty and salon treatments annually, not to mention 160 hours every year on primping and grooming. That’s an entire week of your life every year! So we thought it would be interesting to do a show like this, and if Phoebe Baker Hyde can do it for a whole year, I can surely do it for an hour, right?”

I'll bet Katie is up early scrubbing her pretty face...and doin' a few things to make au naturel look "pretty" darn good. :)

Frankly, I prefer little makeup on a lady...just a touch of something to accentuate a clean good look. So many women are so false that when their makeup comes off they are actually very ugly.

If she thinks us "normal" women, with "normal" paying jobs spend that much money on make up....she's sooooooo out of touch with the real world!  Her ignorance is offensive!

I don't wear make-up and at best maybe have spend $20 a year on the foundation, blush, eye-shadow and maybe mascara if I do for special "dress-up" occasion - which I seldom take part in.  Don't think I have worn anything for a couple years straight so far.

Lets also mention the salon treatments.  I can only afford to get my hair professionally trimmed twice a year and color my hair if I am lucky 3 times a year with clairol do it yourself at home for $3.00 to $4.00 each time.  I am overjoyed if I find a $1.00 off coupon.

11 style rules to break right now

You already know wearing white after Labor Day is cool. But menswear is reinventing itself rapidly, leaving some long-held mandates by the wayside, not to mention a bunch of men with a lot of questions. Sure, some style laws are truly inviolable. Showing a quarter-inch of cuff will always be crucial, but with designers and dandies flaunting so many former taboos it's hard to tell what's in play these days. So we thought we'd take this opportunity to let you know which rules no longer apply.
