Olsen twins launch lower-priced handbag line
Olsen twins debut their first collection of handbags for their line Elizabeth and James.
Just a short time ago, we were all discussing whether or not anyone in this world would actually purchase a $55,000 backpack, after Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen debuted one from their upscale fashion line, The Row.
But now, you can accessorize like an Olsen for a lot less cash. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the new collection of satchels, shoppers, messenger bags, backpacks, hobo bags, cross-body bags, clutches, pouches and wallets has been in the works for about 18 months.
“We’ve always wanted to do handbags, but we really wanted to understand the market first and what was missing from the market and what’s already existing on the market,” Ashley told WWD. “We wanted these bags to be affordable.”

A couple of months ago, the twins received a lot of attention for their higher priced handbag line for The Row, featuring exotic bags that few of us could actually afford (there was even a $55,000 backpack as part of the collection), but this line for Elizabeth and James is much lower.
More from Living: What does your lingerie say about you?
The collection, which will scale in price from $125 to $625, will launch in stores in July.
Tell us: Is $125-$625 an acceptable price to pay for a handbag?
