10 things to keep in your trunk at all times, for fashion's sake, of course!
Fashion emergency items to keep in your car.
by Brenna Egan
Unless you're zipping around your town in a Smart car or on a beach cruiser, there's a whole lot of room in your ride to safeguard against any of fashion's dire straits. For instance, when your newly minted boyfriend calls at the 11th hour to meet his parents, and the dress you're wearing looks like a rumpled piece of foil. Or, how about when you're 20 miles from home and said boyfriend calls for a movie night ... and your ratty undergarments should have been thrown away five years ago? These are those freaky moments when the sartorial ish hits the fan. When you're on the road, an emergency kit in your trunk definitely comes in handy. These are the 10 things I never leave home without.
Please feel free to chime in below with anything else that we should all add to our FEPs (fashion emergency packs)! Oh, and an extra hint: My items are housed within one of my travel suitcases, which works double-duty as storage for the behemoth.
This Jiffy Steamer has saved my fanny too many times to count. It's small enough to fit in a large tote, you can plug it in at a McDonald's bathroom (I've done it!), et voilà, in five minutes your frock looks like it's just been picked up from the dry cleaner.

A cardigan is perfect to hide in your ride during any season in case of a last-minute impromptu outdoor event. I like this Free People version because it's perfect for layering (if you're very cold in the winter), and it buttons up into a double-breasted number for a different unique look.
A large, blanketlike towel is fab to have on hand for an unexpected beach mission or picnic. I'm loving the groovy offerings from the line Tide and Pool because even if it is last-minute, you still want to make a statement, right?
While this Hollywood Fashion Secrets Bridesmaid Fashion Emergency Kit may be made for going to the chapel, it contains all those little things you might otherwise forget: foot cushions, bobby pins, oil blotters, stain removers, static guard and a sewing kit. Yeah, pretty genius!

You may still find yourself hoofing it after putting the car in park, and I've found that keeping a pair of sturdy-yet-stunning flats around like these Marais capped-toes maintains my style dignity and comfort no matter how many blocks I end up from my vehicle.
You may not know it, but sunscreen loses its efficacy if left in a steamy car, so to save face, a brimmed hat is essential. How cute is this Janessa Leone topper?
We all know that sometimes a push-up bra comes in handy! Obviously, save the pricey lingerie for your drawers, but I've actually stocked up on these from Target for both regular and emergency use.

A girl should never get caught in the rain without a cute umbrella, and this ASOS butterfly design will be your chic salvation.
You never know just whom you might meet or bump into (a former flame?) at the farmers' market or grocery store, so I like to keep my practical canvas totes just as stylishly on par with my outfit for the day.
A lightweight scarf does keep you somewhat warm, but I keep one handy in case I left the house without an easy accessory. This artsy Front Row Society stunner will add panache to any look yet has enough layers to wrap for comfort.
