Hollywood's Latest Style Obsession: The Deep V

By Kim Anne Mar 2, 2012 5:33PM
Stars love to show off skin, whether it’s a super-sexy side slit or a sultry mini.

But lately, the stars have all been flocking toward a more specific type of body-baring style—the plunging neckline.

For starters, we got quite the glimpse of Jennifer Lopez at the Academy Awards last Sunday, wearing a low-cut Zuhair Muraid gown that created quite a stir when it was brought to the world’s attention that she may or may not have experienced a wardrobe malfunction.  But she didn’t stop at just one gown—for the Vanity Fair Oscar party following the awards show, she changed into yet another cleavage-enhancing gown with that signature deep V.

It wasn’t just the Academy Awards that has been the stage for the look. Eva Longoria dared to bare her top last week at the Vanity Fair and Chrysler party in a sexy black Cushnie et Ochs dress. She, too seemed to become addicted to the trend, as she wore another deep V-themed outfit the following evening.

And then there’s LeAnn Rimes, also found guilty of wearing the plunging neckline to the Hollywood Domino Gala. And just like the other two ladies, Rimes also is a repeat offender of the plunging neckline.

Looks like the trend is apparently quite addictive.

Tell us: What do you think of the plunging neckline? Would you wear it?

8 wardrobe staples to buy now that will only get better with age

Three summers ago, I bought a pair of soft, white-calfskin Chanel loafers. I spent months trying to keep them pristine, but it wasn’t long before a July thunderstorm left them and me soaked. I began steeling myself for what I thought was inevitable: a solemn drop in the trash. But once the loafers dried, I found the shoes’ stained stitching—now storm-cloud gray—was lovely and a few new wrinkles in the leather were charming, like smile lines for shoes. I started to wear them freely—taking on puddles and tossing them onto the sand at the beach—and before long, they transformed. The roughened toe-tops reminded me of a welcoming, worn armchair, and a wet-and-hot summer had molded the material perfectly to my feet.
