J.Crew sells $1,000 shirt
Top comes with embellishments, crystals and a hefty price tag
We’re always obsessed with each new collection at J.Crew, so it’s no surprise that we were pawing over the retailer's recently-launched style guide. It’s chock-full of adorable fall must-haves. But one item that will not be seen hanging in our closets this season is their Embellished Popover top, which is currently marked at $998. What! $998 for a short sleeve top seems a little excessive. Sure, it’s embellished and all, but it’s J.Crew.

Before we got our undies too much in a bundle, we investigated the company’s website, which lists all the reasons why, in fact, this top is so insanely expensive. “Our in-house beading specialist's vision for the embellishment of this design required more than 35,000 crystals, sequins, beads and paillettes,” says the site. “Each one was carefully applied by hand, a meticulous process that took more than three days to complete. Finished with hand-sewn silk embroidery, it's truly a have-forever favorite.”

I dated a girl after highschool that worked at a high end dress shop. They were selling a pink feather Bola to old ladies in Houston (River Oaks) for $700.00!! She said most of these ladies spent more time at luncheons talking about how much they spent than what they wore! By the way, it does look like something Kanye would wear! :)

You can rent a couture dress or a designer bag, but would you rent hair extensions?
To get the scoop on quick office party beauty tricks, we turned to Landy Dean, celebrity makeup artist at Marie Robinson salon. His simple tutorial requires only a handful of products, starting with the darkest, inkiest eyeliner you can find. Dean swears by the Nars Larger Than Life liners smudged over the waterline and lashline, topped off with a few coats of Maybelline The Falsies mascara. Before you dash off to apply product, there’s one small step that involves removing makeup. “If your foundation and concealer have caked or creased, I recommend a quick removal with a cleansing towelette and a redo to avoid heavy looking skin,” he cautions. For those who would prefer to go the easy route, apply a hydrating moisturizer using a stippling motion and a sponge. Finish the look with a dusting of BareMinerals Mineral Veil—“this will even out discolorations and give a reflective finish that still looks natural”—swap your work bag for a chic clutch, and get ready to ring in the season.
