Jennifer Lopez's New Friend: A $2.1 Million Ring

By Kim Anne Apr 6, 2012 7:54PM

Jenny from the block made yet another fashion statement this week on Wednesday’s episode of American Idol, where she distracted us all with a new sparkler.

The star was showing off a yellow-diamond ring from Cora Jewelers, and it wasn’t cheap.

According to People.com, the 50.40 carat gem, accented in 18-karat yellow gold with ebony wood, comes with a price tag of $2.1 million.

But lucky for the rest of the world, you don’t have to be a celeb to score this gem (although clearly you do have to be loaded)—it will soon be available for purchase on the jeweler’s site.

Tell us: What do you think of Jennifer Lopez’s new bling?

It does bother me when celebrities think it's ok, in this economy, to be opulent and seemingly uncaring towards those less fortunate. I really couldn't care less what they buy or how much it costs. But you better know that the media shoves it in our faces. It is her money and like you or I, she does have the right to spend it however she chooses. I would just like to see some of our "world famous" show more kindness towards those who have paid hard-working money to see them in concert, watch their movies and who have supported them while they became so rich and famous. There are a few who make the news for giving to charity....but imho....many millionaires who once weren't but are now living a privileged life, all seem to have forgotten "from whence they came".  Too many go hungry, too many struggle to make ends meet only to have this kind of spending shoved in their faces, at every opportunity.

Cracks me up to see my comment and so many others voted down simply because we think it's her money she can do what she likes with it. I'm betting it's the same people who rather see their welfare checks go up or get handed more free sh*t from charity.

It is Jay Lo's money and of course has the right to spend it any way she wants and it does not make her a bad person; but it would have been nice if instead of that particular expensive ring she had chosen to buy a smaller pretty ring and used some of the remaining money to help those in need.  But then again maybe she already helps people in need. I don't know.  Just want to give her the benefit to the doubt.

Celebrities, rich Congressmen/Senators, and rich people in general do not know how to relate to the regular public.  They don't understand really what it is like to not have money to buy everything you want.  When you die these "toys, houses, and jewelry" don't go with you.  These people ought to visit the poorest places in the world for about a month or longer and see how most of the world is living.  Also, J. Lo has already been married three times.  Money does not buy you martial bliss.

J-Lo and I don't have the same taste in jewelry or clothing so it's no surprise that I don't care for her ring. I've always thought she likes gaudy stuff so people will notice her. She is pretty but I think she knows it. Just my opinion though.

IMHO an unattractive ring. Her money might well be better spent for charilty as someone pointed out,  but it is her money and she has the same right as the rest of us to spend it as she chooses. Even on a tasteless bauble. .

so many hungry from her's and many others blocks could have been fed for a long time with that money yet she who claims to care about the poor and hungry chooses to waste money like that on herself. vanity is such an ugly thing!
