Are Scrunchies Coming Back in Style?
We decided to officially retire our scrunchies after that famous episode of "Sex and the City" where Carrie Bradshaw declares that it simply isn’t cool to wear one. And though we missed those comfy, 80s-inspired colorful hair accessories, our opinion on the uncool-ness factor of scrunchies was reconfirmed when Hillary Clinton received more than her fair share of backlash for rocking her own scrunchie in 2012.
But ever since the adorable women’s gymnastics team tried out the look at last week’s London games, we are kind of toying with the idea that a scrunchie is actually kinda cute again — yes, it’s true! And fashion brands are helping to fuel the trend. Marc Jacobs is one of the designers trying to bring back the look with the debut of his new chic version. In fact, it’s already sold out on Shopbop. But if you’re digging the look, you can still buy it at Bloomingdales.
