Abercrombie & Fitch wrongly fired a Muslim worker for wearing a headscarf
Federal Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled the firm violated antidiscrimination laws.
A judge has ruled that Abercrombie & Fitch wrongly fired a Muslim worker for wearing a headscarf. Federal Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled the firm violated antidiscrimination laws when it sacked Hani Khan from a Hollister brand shop, reports the BBC.
The report states that Khan was told in the beginning that she could wear a headscarf as long as it was in the colors of Abercrombie & Fitch-owned store Hollister & Co. But later, she was fired from the San Mateo, Calif., store when she refused to take it off.

Four months into her hiring agreement, Khan was told by a district manager that she was suspended (with pay) for wearing the headscarf. Later, she was then fired on grounds that deviation from its “look policy” would affect clothing sales. "I was shocked and surprised when I was asked to remove my hijab [headscarf] and then fired for refusing to comply," Ms Khan said in a statement.

The BBC reports Judge Rogers of the Northern District of California “said Abercrombie and Fitch had not proven it faced undue hardship to accommodate employees who wear headscarves for religious reasons.”

Yes I think they had the right to fire her. When one is not allowed to say "one nation under God" in the pledge then it is time for the same be done to those who offend others by their religious habits.
