CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast; photo courtesy of CGThe smoky eye continues to be a huge beauty trend.

If you doubt your makeup artist skills, CoverGirl's Smoky ShadowBlast makes it easy.

The shadow stick comes with clear instructions (the two shades are marked "Step 1" and "Step 2") and the color glides on effortlessly and blends easy—a key factor in creating the smoky look.

Still not sure how? Watch this video clip featuring DIY beauty expert, Hanh Bui, showing how to achieve the smoky eye with CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast.

And guess what? CoverGirl is giving seven Simply Chic readers the kit shown above, worth $100. It contains every Smoky ShadowBlast shade—that's six colors, including the popular Onyx Smoke, Purple Plume (really brings out green eyes) and versatile Bronze Fire.

How do you win? First, watch the video clip above. Second, tell me (email kristinlarson@live.com) why you'd like to win the Smoky ShadowBlast kit. The contest starts today and ends next Friday. Good luck!

Kirstin,

Thank You so very much.  My house was robbed and of course they got my computer, I miss it.  They even stole my car.  It was so wonderful to get something new after so much has been taken from me.

Thanks again

Cathy

11 style rules to break right now

You already know wearing white after Labor Day is cool. But menswear is reinventing itself rapidly, leaving some long-held mandates by the wayside, not to mention a bunch of men with a lot of questions. Sure, some style laws are truly inviolable. Showing a quarter-inch of cuff will always be crucial, but with designers and dandies flaunting so many former taboos it's hard to tell what's in play these days. So we thought we'd take this opportunity to let you know which rules no longer apply.

    Cool wedding beauty ideas

It’s time for bridal beauty to loosen up. Hair doesn’t have to be tightly wound, makeup perfectly contoured, and nails French manicured (on this last point, really, please don’t). You can, in fact, look gorgeously and timelessly cool at your wedding. Here’s how.
