Trend to Try: The Swan Print

By Kim Anne Jun 28, 2012 7:36PM

The idea of wearing clothes with swans on them never occurred to us, despite our obsession with trying new trends.

But when cutie Dakota Fanning stepped out in a swan printed dress and matching top, we did a double take. Swans? Aren’t they known as one of the meanest animals on the planet?

Yet despite the animal’s lack of friendliness, they actually do look darn cute when patterned on clothing.

Fanning’s ensemble (her actual outfit is actually a matching skirt and top, although it also comes in a dress) can be found at Topshop. Or, you can dare to try your own version of a swan-themed wardrobe.

Here are a few pieces of clothes with swan prints, just in case you’re feeling majestic.

Celeb style icons at every age

There’s a particular episode of 30 Rock (“Black Light Attack!”, for all the fellow 30 Rock historians out there) in which Jane Krakowski’s youth-obsessed character Jenna goes on a Gossip Girl audition. She thinks it’s for the role of an Upper East Side high schooler, but as she learns in the middle of the tryout, it’s for that of her mother instead. While Tina Fey’s brilliant Liz Lemon later tries to talk Jenna off the cliff, she says, “You can try to fight getting older. You can be like Madonna, and cling to youth with your Gollum arms. Or you can be like Meryl Streep and embrace your age with elegance.”
