The powerful women who wear bangs

They’re calling 2013 the “Year of the Bang.” We’re not talking about gun control—we’re talking about hair. It started with the Duchess of Cambridge who cut her bangs last year and started a flood of requests to mimic the look at salons all over the world. After first lady Michelle Obama followed suit, you can pretty much assume that you’ll never see a woman’s full forehead again. At least not until the look changes again.

By JACQUELINE LEO, The Fiscal Times

She may be the first lady, but Michelle Obama has a lot more impact on national style than her husband. Her chic clothes, her understated accessories, and now her new hairstyle will influence fashionistas throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Jan Brewer

Previous Slide Jan Brewer Next Slide

Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona is the 4th women to serve in that capacity. Brewer provoked a national controversy when, on April 23, 2010, she signed the Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act. The act makes it a state misdemeanor crime for an immigrant to be in Arizona without carrying registration documents required by federal law, authorizes state and local law enforcement of federal immigration laws, and cracks down on those sheltering, hiring and transporting illegal aliens.

Drew Gilpin Faust

Previous Slide Drew Gilpin Faust Next Slide

She's the first woman president of Harvard University, and she wears bangs.  But she's not on the fringe. Her appointment was as much a statement of values on the part of Harvard's governing boards as it was a brilliant choice.  She followed Lawrence Summers whose controversial statements took a swipe at women in science.

Kate Middleton

Previous Slide Kate Middleton Next Slide

The Duchess of Cambridge may have been thinking of her dead mother in law, Princess Diana, when she cut her bangs. Diana's fringe was swept to one side, but it was her signature. Chances are Diana would have been thrilled that Kate is pregnant and that her son is so obviously happy with his new life.

Gabrielle Giffords

Previous Slide Gabrielle Giffords Next Slide

Before the Arizona Congresswoman was shot in an assassination attempt at a supermarket near Tucson, she was one of those rare people in Congress capable of listening to both sides of an issue.  Her heroic recovery efforts have made her an inspiration to many with severe physical challenges.  Today, she has joined the president's campaign for gun control.

Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton

Previous Slide Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton Next Slide

Two film legends who are not finished yet.  Goldie Hawn has made 27 movies following her amazing start as the ditzy blonde on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in.  Some of her classics:  Private Benjamin; Bird on a Wire, Cactus Flower and The First Wives Club. Diane Keaton's first major film was the Godfather, where she played Kay, Michael Corleone's wife.  Her classic, of course, was Annie Hall. She had the look and set a new fashion trend. Keaton's films have earned over $1.1 billion in North America.

E.L. James

Previous Slide E.L. James Next Slide

E. L. James, nee Erica Mitchell, is a publisher's dream--she's the British author of "Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," and "Fifty Shades Freed."  Total sales: over 35 million and still counting.  Last year she was named one of the World's 100 Most Influential People in Time Magazine.  Must have been the bangs.

Gayle King

Previous Slide Gayle King Next Slide

If you think of Gayle King as simply a protege of Oprah, think again.  She was a news reporter and anchor in two different big city markets for over 20 years before she became editor of O, The Oprah Magazine in 1999.  She later worked as a correspondent for Oprah and Good Morning America.  Today she co-anchors CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell.

Lady Gaga

Previous Slide Lady Gaga Next Slide

Lady Gaga is a nice Catholic girl.  She was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York and studied at the Convent of the Sacred Heart--a pricey private school on the upper east side.  And OK, she doesn't always wear bangs.  But when she posed for this cover of Vogue, she decided to channel Anna Wintour, the storied editor of the magazine (keep clicking to see Anna). Gaga is the epitome of a superstar entertainer.

Angela Merkel

Previous Slide Angela Merkel Next Slide

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, is arguably the most powerful woman in Europe. She holds the cards on how far the IMF will go to forgive Greek debt. The German banking association said a fresh "haircut" or forced reduction in the value of Greek sovereign debt must only happen as a last resort. Meanwhile, Merkel's greatest challenge might be the new president of France, Francoise Hollande. The big-spending socialist has raised taxes dramatically and faces slow growth and high unemployment.

Sorry but Michelle is neither powerful or beautiful.  She is just a woman with bangs married to the president.   She is only powerful in the eyes of the liberal Media, not to the 100 of million of the American People.. So stop with these exaggerations... they do not stand up to scrutiny.  Only in the minds of the liberals.. She show no grace, not do they follow protocol.  She thinks she can do anything even if it disgraces the Image of the First Lady.  Liberal Media keeps spouting her law degree.. but the woman hadn't practiced law in decades.. neither has her husband, President obama only handled 30 cases... then quit! Why?  The left is always talking about how smart.. but how could a lazy pot smoker,  who snorted cocaine in high school, how could this student have gotten into Harvard or Columbia?  Not so smart.. and that is why his records are sealed..

Sorry, but I just whipped through the photos and Sarah Palin was the best looking one in the group.  In fact, the others looked like a who's who of mean-faced dried up liberal Democrat lesbians.

Wait a minute, the article was supposed to be about "women" right?  Why the picture of Moochelle Obozo?  They need to transfer that photo to "Animal Planet" or the "National Geographic Channel," maybe something to do with water buffalo or hairy mammals with oversized mouths.

They can push this woman on us all they want.
But
she is not beautiful ( probably setting black is beautiful back 30 years )
The new wig looks...well like an expensive wig.
She is not a fashion icon, most of the dresses look like African Tribal outfits.
She chews with her mouth open.
Hates whites.  hates the USA.  Photo op's with the military, but dispises them.
Push her on us all you want, but the woman is a classless frump.

Oh is not this just so wonderful!  We sit here and talk about this bimbo's fake bangs while her looney tune husband is spending our country into the dark ages.  Two things:

Ms. Obama - you need to concentrate on all that extra real estate below your belt that covers two zip codes.

Barry - Present a budget that cuts spending.  Specifically Barry, not a cut in the increase in spending each year.  Cuts in spending for all the lazy unemployed free loaders that voted for you and Ms. Bangs!

Regarding the First Lady, "her chick chic clothes, her understated accessories and now her new hair style will influence fashionistas throughout the U.S.A. and abroad"; I hardly think so unless you are talking about not copying her.   Gayle King has more style in her little finger than First Lady Michelle Obama will ever have.

All that's missing is the bone in her nose.  Then, she could model for National Geographic.
Also, her thesis at Princeton [Michelle Robinson] is very anti-white.

Goo God almighty. She is a pathetic racist and a con.  Ever wonder why she gave up her law license, it was a plea deal so that she wouldn't be criminally charged in the extortion she was involved in.  She is a butt ugly (inside and out) gutter tramp.

The last 2 days the msn headlines first show Michelle in an evening dress with a tagline about enterainment or something like that and today the headline is about bangs???  Howz about a headline about what's going on in Washington or should I say what's not going on.  You have to dig for a story about that liberal or conservative?  The citizens of this country are getting screwed by their "representatives" in DC and msn can't find anything better to report on than bangs? Pathetic.

Who are you kidding?

These are middle-aged to elderly women trying to regain and relive their youth by stealing a look that is not flattering to them.

Try aging gracefully and losing the bitterness and attitude.
