Hottest runway hair (and how to get it)
Faux braids
The look is badass Nordic princess. Since tiny French braids require octo-arms, cheat with a wraparound headband.
Ready: Fat braids look fake. Choose 1/2 inch thick or smaller. Colorwise, eye pieces in natural light (bulbs give a yellow cast), and pick one close to your shade, says Louise Moon, a stylist at Sally Hershberger Los Angeles. Start with clean, dry hair.
Go: Placement is key. Pull band around neck; separate hair into three sections: side, side, back. Let front two fall forward; stretch band over them, placing braid in middle of head. Sweep hair into a low pony, says Tabatha Coffey, cocreator of Luxhair How.

Side sweep
It's the modern version of the half-up pony. Hair is swept to the side and loosely pinned, so it cascades with the help of a few strategic extensions.
Ready: Sorry, short-hair gals. This style works best on medium to long strands—you need length to do the sweep. Start with clean hair blow-dried wave with a round brush.
Go: Part hair slightly off-center. Take about 4 inches of the smaller side and tease with a comb to add volume. Pull section around back of head and clip in place above opposite ear, says Ken Paves, a stylish in Los Angeles. Attach two or three hair pieces underneath pinned portion. Pull out a few strands in front to frame your face.

Perfect knot
Slicked-back ballet hair is on point. A bun shaper beefs it up—no sad knobs, please.
Ready: Spray dry shampoo underneath top sections of day-old hair to give a little grip, Coffrey says. Naturally curly or wavy? Wet strands and blow-dry with a paddle brush so they look polished when wrapped.
Go: Tie hair in a low pony; pull tail through doughnut's center until it touches scalp. Fan hair over doughnut and pin around. Short hair: Stretch small section s of your pony over the tool and tuck underneath, pinning as you go.
