10 holiday beauty looks to try at your next party
Oxblood
Oxblood is the hottest color trend for winter, but you may prefer the PETA-friendly name for it: dark brownish-red. Whatever you want to call it, you can show off the trend with a splash of it on your lips. Just make sure the rest of your makeup is low-key so the color pops perfectly. Try Lise Watier's Rouge Gourmand lipstick in Shiraz ($20).

Hair decor
Ornaments don't only belong on trees. Check out this beautiful bauble on Milla Jovovich. It instantly adds a touch of glamour to any outfit -- not to mention it's festive and fun. Urban Outfitters makes a beautiful Swooping Feather hair clip ($14) -- a perfect upgrade for your updo.
The cat eye
Meyowza! The cat eye is staying in style for the rest of 2012, and what a fail-safe trend to try out at your office party. While some celebs go overboard with the winged eyeliner, Tyra Banks does it right. Revlon's Colorstay Liquid Liner ($5) comes with a small, skinny tip -- which makes lining your eyes a breeze.
Hot neon hues
If you really want to stand out at the party, why not try this bold, Rihanna-inspired look? Neon continues to be hot throughout the year, and this pink hue is perfect for lips. Try YSL's Fuchsia Innocent ($32). To be really bold, pair it with electric-blue eyeliner.
Au naturel
Attending a family or office event and don't want to get too crazy? Try a more natural, dewy look like this one on Lucy Liu. Simple lips, classic eyeliner and pretty pink blush leave you looking subtle but beautiful. Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush ($11.95) adds a natural, sweet flush to cheeks.
The wraparound braid
This year, there's an alternative to the traditional updo: the wraparound braid. To recreate Jessica Alba's version, start with sections of hair from one side of your head, French braid onto the other side, and then tie in a low ponytail. What an easy way to get party-ready.
Classic red lipstick
If you've got cool skin like Rooney Mara, a bold red lip color will make you look instantly festive. Try MAC's red staple, Lasting Lust ($23). Keep your eye makeup minimal so that your features aren't competing for attention. Make no mistake -- the night belongs to your lips.
A smidge of sparkle
With a subtle touch of sparkle, you can give nail polish a fresh, festive look. Nicole Scherzinger dons classic red on her fingertips, but a bit of glitter takes her from traditional to totally dazzling. Try Milani's aptly named Red Sparkle ($3.99).
Sugarplum eye shadow
Got visions of sugarplums? Why not try a violet hue like this one on Olivia Wilde? Wear a dark purple shade on the outer corner of your eye and a lighter, more shimmery shade on your brow and inner corner. Dior makes it easy with their Purple Revolution palette ($48).
Cranberry lips
If you'd rather draw attention to your lips, try a cranberry hue like this one on Susan Sarandon. Clinique's Spicy Honey ($24) will do the trick. Or, for an even deeper shade, try their Chic Honey. Practically everyone can pull off this color, so pucker up.
