Shop Your Closet for Halloween

If you’re looking at your calendar thinking, OMG, it’s Halloween already? you’re not completely out of luck yet for this year’s festivities. Halloween 2012 can easily become your thriftiest and fastest to date if you costume shop in your own closet. Whether you’re going for sultry or hilarious this All Hallows’ Eve, there should be no shame in dressing up in what you already own.

Vampy Vampire

To pull together a look that's both savvy and sexy, bring out that little black dress and a pair of red stilettos. Pair your seductive dress and pumps with dramatic eye makeup (red lips and a smoky eye are perfect) and some vampire teeth.

Ke$ha

If you don't take yourself seriously and own a few crazy or bold pieces, this costume is ideal for you. A crazy cocktail dress in any color will work -- we're not looking to match here. Add as many accessories as you can, such as a fur vest, costume jewelry and boots. And don't forget to rock her signature messy makeup. Try using bright colors and don't be afraid to go a little overboard -- the weirder, the better. If you don't have blond hair, invest in a platinum wig. Otherwise, tease and braid different sections of your hair to make yourself into a hot mess.

Flo From Progressive Insurance

Even if you're not a fan of Progressive Insurance's mascot (because she's always interrupting your favorite shows), you have to admit she's pretty recognizable. Flo is also one of the easiest looks to pull off this costume party season. Find a white short-sleeved polo, some white pants and a white apron, and you're almost done. Pop on a blue headband and some black Converse and you'll be all Flo-ed out.

Rosie the Riveter

Another recognizable option is Rosie. To pull off this female powerhouse look, you need a denim shirt (which, lucky for you, are sold just about everywhere), a pair of jeans and a bandana. Try putting your hair up in a French twist or a messy bun; then tie your bandana around your head like a headband. Pair your retro apparel with old-Hollywood makeup: Use black eyeliner to create a winged effect and finish off the look with red lipstick.

Where’s Waldo?

What's the best way to make sure you're spotted out this Halloween? By dressing as this mysterious cartoon character. Start with a red-and-white-striped shirt and a pair of blue jeans. Next, add a white or red stocking hat (preferably with a pom-pom on top) and round glasses. Best of all? There's no special makeup required to complete the ensemble. Happy haunting!
