10 Ways to Travel like a Jet-Setter

Stylist Cher Coulter recommends layering breathable basics -- cotton T-shirts, light wool sweaters -- over tight, stretchy jeans, which maintain their shape after hours of sitting. Finish with a drapey scarf, which can double as a blanket, and slip-on ankle boots. "Wear a shoe that needs a sock," she says. "There's nothing worse than going barefoot through security."

At home, decant a favorite shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and night cream into clear, travel-size empties. Then go to 3floz.com for mini versions of products you can't transfer, like hairspray.

"The color always drains from my face when I fly," says L.A. makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, who says to carry concealer and a cheek stain for in-flight touch-ups. Even better? Even the most voluminous waves fall flat on transatlantic flights, and buns don't make it easy to lean back and sleep. Block out crying babies and chatty seatmates with noise-canceling headphones and a relaxing aural meditation, like one from Jeffrey Thompson, founder of the Center for Neuroacoustic Research in Carlsbad, Calif. "It's tricky to eat healthy when you're traveling," says Dr. Alejandro Junger, founder of the Clean Program (Gwyneth Paltrow is a fan of this cleanse). Pack good-for-you treats like hot-air popcorn, nuts, and fruit. And don't forget to stash a few under-200-calorie health bars in your luggage for when you arrive (we like Gnu bars -- they're delicious and loaded with fiber).
