The Hunger Games: Star Transformations
Jennifer Lawrence: 2007
From her squirrel-skinning character in Winter's Bone to her upcoming lead as reluctant warrior Katniss in The Hunger Games, 21-year-old Jennifer Lawrence clearly chooses parts with more than flattering close-ups to offer. "I like really strong girls -- and I get to be them for a few months," Lawrence told InStyle. That's not to say that the blonde-turned-brunette doesn't enjoy an all-out red-carpet moment: "I mean, I'm a girl. I'm excited when I look good."
The young star of The Bill Engvall Show made an early awards show appearance with bronzed skin and liquid liner.

Fresh layers and cheekbone-length bangs added movement to her mane for the Hollywood Awards gala.

The blonde went brunette for her lead role in The Hunger Games. "I think I just have to stay tan," she told EW of the adjustment. "Or I'll look like the girl from The Ring."
Elizabeth Banks: 2002
Elizabeth Banks has swapped shades numerous times in her career -- what's her take on what gentlemen prefer? "You turn more heads as a blonde, but you're taken more seriously as a brunette," Banks told InStyle. "There's a stigma to being blond -- you're a good-time gal." But that's not to say she prefers life with dark hair: "I like having a good time, so it fits my personality to be blond." Next up for Banks is The Hunger Games and her most exciting change-ups yet -- she'll wig out to play Effie Trinket in pink, green and lavender.
For the Spider-Man premiere, Banks added highlights to her naturally blond locks.

At the Cannes Film Festival, the face (and hair!) of L'Oreal Paris accented her blue eyes with smoky shadow.

A loose, deconstructed chignon framed her face at the Cannes Film Festival.
Lenny Kravitz: 1990
Lenny Kravitz kicked off his career with wild style and major dreads -- that is, before he chopped them off in 1998 because "they contained too much bad energy." From the very beginning, getting dressed was high theater, as he told People, "I wanted to be David Bowie -- I liked the style, the girls, everything." These days he still sports a piercing in each nostril and a flair for layering, but he channels the drama into serious acting, from his critically acclaimed turn in Precious to his upcoming role in The Hunger Games. As costar Elizabeth Banks puts it, in his latest permutation as stylist Cinna, Kravitz simply "embodies elegance."
Having dropped his Romeo Blue stage name, Kravitz launched Let Love Rule with a flower-power combo of Lennon-esque shades and shoulder-length dreads.

Plastic aviators plus a short crop equaled a relatively restrained look for the stylish singer.

Looking better than ever, Kravitz appeared at the Grammys with close-cropped locks and a big smile.
