Destination Wedding Style Guide
For the Guests: Companion Pieces
Outdoor vows usually give guests a lot of breathing room, style-wise. But while these wilder weddings may seem like "anything goes" territory, you'd never think of wearing a pair of jeans and your favorite old T-shirt to this 'do. (Micro-minis and halter tops are also way wrong, regardless of soaring temps.) Aim for simple silhouettes with touches of femme finery, or a little daytime sparkle, for the right matrimonial mood. Maxi dresses possess that combo of casual and classy, hitting just the right note, and hem styles are evolving this season: straight is great, but high-low hems are trendiest (and extra breezy). Citrus brights abound, so you'll stand out even in simple sundresses, while color blocking is another fun way to add punch to a cotton sheath or shift.
Metallic espadrille wedges bring a combo of glam (shiny gold, pewter or silver straps) and rustic (woven jute heels) to a nature-centric wedding, and jewelry follows suit, with turquoise or white stones trending big this season, while a collection of wood bangles makes for the best wrist candy. Straw clutches hold all the extras in rough-hewn splendor.
