Take it as a compliment. Nice work choosing a dress your friends actually like -- so much that they want to wear it right away! In terms of etiquette, there’s no rule in the books about wearing the dress before the day, but it’s fair to say that it was meant for your wedding and shouldn’t be worn before then.

Q. Is it okay to announce our engagement by emailing guests our wedding website? 

In a word, yes. While you don’t want your close friends and family to find out about your engagement via a website (it seems cold and impersonal), it’s perfectly fine to let everyone else find out when the save-the-dates roll in or they hear the news from someone else.

Q. My mom is throwing us a surprise engagement party but she’s not paying for dinner or drinks -- tacky?

Here's the deal about engagement parties... they can be anything from a backyard barbecue to a full-on cocktail party. So even though bites and booze aren't going to be free, at least your mom is organizing a time where everyone can be together to celebrate your newly engaged status.
