Kelly Ripa gushes about husband: 'He makes me feel safe'

As if Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, weren’t cute enough, the Live! With Kelly and Michael host recently gushed to Elle about her hubby of nearly 17 years.
 
“I was drawn to Mark because he was positively an alpha male, and I didn’t think I would be drawn to that. But I worship him.”
 
Seriously, is there any couple more adorable than these two? They met in 1995 on the set of All My Children and eloped the following year. Now, after almost two decades together, the duo has three children: Michael, 15; Lola, 11; and Joaquin, 9. (Single women take note: Kelly is proof that if you join the cast of a soap opera, you WILL find your dream man.)
 
“He makes me feel very safe,” said the 42-year-old television host. “I actually call him Desi, because the thing about Desi was that as much attention as Lucy got, Desi was always in charge.”
 
In the wake of so many celebrity divorces and cheating scandals, it’s refreshing to hear Kelly talk honestly about her lasting marriage. I have to applaud Mark as well -- I can only imagine how much patience it must take to be married to the Energizer Bunny. After all, a majority of high-profile relationships can’t seem to endure 17 months, let alone 17 years.
