What His Facebook Profile Really Says About Him
What His Profile Photo May Mean
"When judging someone's profile picture, keep in mind how he's using Facebook," says Leora Israel, head of public relations and distribution for social media company Vayner Media. "Some use it for business, others for fun, others to connect to long-lost friends. If a guy has a boring Facebook profile picture, it doesn't necessarily mean he's boring. He might just be 'friends' with his boss."

What a Party Profile Pic May Mean
Is he chugging a beer? He probably likes to party. No problem — unless he's way past his frat years. "If he's old enough to have seen first-run episodes of Doogie Howser but is trying to prove he's a partier, he may not be into a relationship," Israel says.
What a Profile Pic With His Pet May Mean
Everyone loves a man with a dog. But it's important to look through his last 10 profile pics and make sure they're not all of Fido. There should be a good balance of other photo subjects — not just his four-legged friend.
What a Profile Pic With a Celebrity May Mean
Posing with a star is a smart move, says Israel. "This straddles the line nicely between professional and fun. It shows he's cool because he met so-and-so and gives you some insight into his interests."
What a Profile Pic With a Pretty Girl May Mean
"This is the most annoying picture a guy could take," Israel says, because it's confusing. Hopefully, he's tagged the Baywatch babe — if they share a last name, it's likely a cousin or a sister. Whew. And it could just be his platonic BFF or the best picture he could find of himself. But it does beg the question, Why is she front and center?

What It Means When He Updates His Page Constantly
Are his status updates and photo uploads practically real time? "Posting frequently says this guy's a talker and loves interaction. He loves to be socially connected," Tuttle says.
That said, Israel suggests following this rule of thumb: "I'd run if he's narrating his life via Facebook. I don't want to know what he had for lunch unless it was the best sandwich ever."
What His Status Updates Mean
His status is one of the most obvious keys to his personality — after all, he deliberately typed out the exact message he wanted to broadcast — so pay attention.
"Whining and complaining posts mean he's emotionally needy and can't take charge of his life," Tuttle says. And "if he's always criticizing other people or situations, he could be the kind of guy who always has to be right."
What It Means When He Takes Lots of Quizzes
"If he's posting his high quiz scores and results that make him look good, he's the competitive type and loves a challenge," Tuttle says. That's right, he's proud that he scored a 98 percent on "How Much Do You Know About Jaws: The Revenge?" and "Really, Really Weird '80s Trivia."
"This guy has a more active, reactive nature and is less sensitive to details like what to get you on your birthday, but when he has an idea he's excited about, he'll go big."
What It Means When He Has a Ton of Friends
Is he friends with everyone on the planet? It's not necessarily a bad thing. He might just be "extremely social, talkative and fun-loving. He might make friends easily. This kind of guy believes in new possibilities and is naturally optimistic," Tuttle says.
In other words, he just might be a cool guy everyone actually wants to be friends with. Of course, someone juggling this many pals could also be the kind of a guy who's super ambitious — think "campaigning to be Mr. Popular" — and maybe a little overextended.
What It Means When He's Always Adding (Girl) Friends
Take note if your new man is a serial friend collector — especially if his new pals tend to be attractive women. "There are guys out there who troll their friend's friends for pretty girls and add them," Israel says. "This can lead to 'poking' and Facebook chat flirting — all very dangerous to relationships."
