Depending on your point of view, Valentine's Day is either the most romantic day of the year or yet another Hallmark holiday. Whether you're on team V-Day or believe Feb. 15 can't come soon enough, read on to learn how to avoid some of the biggest Cupid-inspired blunders.

DON'T get hung up on the date

It's OK to celebrate the big day sometime other than Feb. 14. Choose another day during the week Valentine's Day falls; reservations will be easier to get, and prices will be cheaper.

DO suggest an alternative to roses

Haven't you heard? Our economy still isn't doing so great. Instead of overdone and overpriced roses, tell your man how much you love Gerber daisies or how pretty you think a bouquet of baby's breath can be.
