Ben Affleck, George Clooney at the Oscars. At the Oscars earlier this year, Ben Affleck and George Clooney rocked the beard.

Affleck, however, was all-too-happy to shave off his “Argo” good-luck charm once the party was over. George Clooney soon thereafter followed Affleck's lead and was spotted clean shaven earlier this month by TMZ after his reported split with Stacy Keibler.

Is the beard over?

Not quite.

"Beards are at their peak of popularity at the moment," said Victor Macias, co-founder of men's grooming site MaleStandard.com. "However, with the beginning of summer, I think that we'll see a trend in the other direction. Don't be surprised if more men opt for the clean-shaven look during the hotter months."

The trend may not yet be over, but street-style photographer Jonathan Daniel Pryce, the creative force behind the 100 beards in 100 days project, told The Guardian that "I think it is reaching a point of saturation."

Men's grooming expert Allan Peterkin agrees. TheToronto-based psychiatrist and cultural historian and grooming consultant to the new DOVE Men Plus Care Face Line, told MSN that he expects to see a return to a more clean-shaven “Mad Men” look in the next few years.

Grow a beard because you want one, not because it's trendy. Hollywood does not dictate what I should or shouldn't do.

I love how they have women write articles critiquing men and their looks. How about we have a guy write an article mocking or criticizing women's looks and foolish habits? Yeah, sounds good. Oh...right...this is MSN; the man-hater club.

You know...they are cool beard guy like..Ernest Hemingway, Sean Connery, ZZ Top (rock star) and Thor. (comic hero)  Some men don't want to shave, because they're tired of shaving daily, or some medical reason. I can't shave my face, because my skin is too sensitive. I try to both electric shave and wet shaving, but I feel uncomfortable.
