10 Things Women Do Better Than Men

Here at Cosmo, we love men. But we kept coming across tons of studies proving women have some amazing abilities that men lack. So, we rounded up some of our favorites. Hello, ego boost!
Cosmopolitan // Cosmopolitan

1. We evolve hotter.

A beautiful brunette looking into the camera Next Slide

A recent study revealed that women are getting better looking through evolution; meanwhile, men are staying the same. After following more than 2,000 people through four decades of life, the study showed that attractive women had 16 percent more children than average-looking chicks and that beautiful people are 36 percent more likely to have a daughter as their firstborn. All those gorgeous daughters mean more beautiful women than in past generations.

2. We survive car accidents more often.

This is sad but true: Men are 77 percent more likely to die in a car accident than women, according to a study done by Carnegie Mellon University. Our boyfriends should be thanking us when we nag them to "Wear your seatbelt!"

3. We're better at seeking comfort.

Previous Slide Two women in the sunshine Next Slide

A Mind survey of 2,000 people revealed that women are far more likely than men to talk through their problems. Fifty-three percent of women talk to their friends about what's stressing them out, as opposed to 29 percent of men.

4. We're more recession-proof.

Previous Slide A woman in an orange dress sitting on a bed Next Slide

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 80 percent of those who have lost their jobs since December 2007 have been men. Ouch. This could be because male-dominated fields have been hit the hardest, like manufacturing and finance. That really sucks...but hey, maybe it's time more men became nurses and educators.

5. We graduate college more often.

Previous Slide A smiling woman leaning against a tree Next Slide

We already know that female enrollment is higher than male, but the Department of Education's statistics reveal that men are also less likely than women to graduate and get their bachelor's degrees. Men are also more likely to take longer than five years to complete their degree.

6. We eat healthier.

Previous Slide A beautiful blonde woman sitting on a sofa and drinking a glass of wine Next Slide

A survey of more than 14,000 people, conducted by the University of Minnesota, showed that women choose far healthier foods than men. While men are more likely to chow down on frozen pizza and red meat, women are piling fruits and veggies onto their plates. It all sounds pretty obvious, but we get so much grief for our chocolate addictions that we just had to point this one out!

7. We have stronger immune systems.

Previous Slide A woman jumping on her bed Next Slide

No wonder men act like such babies when they have a sniffle -- women really do have stronger immune systems than men! If there are little battles going on in our bodies, women have a secret weapon: estrogen. A study done by McGill University indicated that estrogen gives women an edge when it comes to fighting off infections. That's because estrogen confronts a certain enzyme that often hinders the body's first line of defense against bacteria and viruses.

8. We live longer.

Previous Slide A happy woman sitting on a chair Next Slide

Among the world's population of those who are over 100 years old, 85 percent are women, according to the New England Centenarian Study. In general, women continue to live five to 10 years longer than men as well.

9. We're better managers, especially in this economy.

Previous Slide A woman in a blue blouse leaning against a wall Next Slide

This one is a little controversial, but a slew of experts are confident that women make greater bosses because they are better listeners, mentors, problem solvers, and multitaskers than their male counterparts. In a recent Daily News article, management expert Jay Forte said, "It's a very service-oriented economy [right now], so you need employees to be motivated. Women are better connectors than men and more astute about knowing how to activate passion in their employees."

10. We invest better.

Previous Slide A sexy woman in a bue dress Next Slide

A study of 100,000 portfolios showed that women's investment returns outperform men's, 18 percent to 11 percent. This could be because women are typically more cautious with their investment decisions and think longer term.

Whoever made this article is a moron. Evolution isn't the same thing as people taking care of their skin and applying makeup. Do they disregard the fact that new skin products have surfaced over the years? Grow up.

Not only is "hot" subjective, studies have inferred that the majority of women get less appealing, and the majority of men get more appealing as they age; biased, but contrary to what this implies. Oh, and if that isn't enough to prove my point- then go google "Megan Fox without makeup". The idea of a gender looking better than the other is arbitrary, and this article stating otherwise does nothing more than show how much of a biased idiot the writer is.

I'm not offended by the amount of sexism presented in this article, but rather the amount of stupidity. Whoever wrote this deserves to be fired, assuming they were paid to write it. Hell, spontaneous generation (evolution) has been proven to be non-existent. This article revolves more around the idea of fiction and biased generalizations than it does fact.

It's funny, because none of those things are true. Each topic is subjective or incredibly biased. The author of the article is a complete simpleton.

Biased much. For every one person I could think of that matched these, I could think of a dozen women I know who don't.

everyone starts out in the womb asexually.  the chromosomes have determined male or female but the physical differences don't show up for weeks.

so whatever is being claimed about prettiness isn't determined by information (genomics and proteinomics) but attitudes.

we are hairless apes like it or not.

there may be unfathomably more beautiful creatures out there but since the hairless apes are doing the grading, they won't come out well.

I'm sorry but I am going to have to disagree with some of these, especially about the whole sickness part. Yes some guys to act like babies when they do get sick, but I know a lot of girls who get sick a lot more often than I do. I haven't had the flu in over 15 years and I don't take the flu shots. I get mildly sick once or twice a year thats it. Surviving in the car accidents is only because most of the time they cause the accidents being on their damn phones texting or talking. The reason why women live longer is because men are a lot harder on their bodies, it was a proven fact over 30 years ago, and the investment part is just b.s.. Women can't seem to control their urges to splurge at the malls or other stores. Stuff they don't need or have to many stuff of already. Most of us men hate shopping, we get in, get the stuff and get out as quickly as possible.

Um is it me or does this article seem a little...sexist? I mean I was thinking it would be, much, much different. I mean, having a good immune system is something natural, living longer is natural and "Evolving hotter" is a matter of opinion. Those aren't really even abilities. I sort of expected to read that they're "better with computers" or something (Just an example).

Recession-proof?  Not here.  My wife has NO idea how to handle money....not that she's out spending it, but she just doesn't know the advantages of investing as opposed to saving.  She will save money in a bank account paying .01% before she will put money into mutual funds, stocks or bonds because she is afraid of what she calls the "ups & downs."  She doesn't realize that in the long run, the market has always paid you more than the banks.  Would my wife have either an IRA or a Roth IRA if I didn't get those established?  I don't think so.  And now we are retired and not under financial stress.  We are not as well off as many as we did not always maximize, but we have MUCH more than many our ages.  Have you begun your 401(k), IRA or Roth IRA?  If not, you'd better start NOW.  The clock is ticking, and every day can make a considerable difference in your retirement $$.

She has NO idea how much each utility bill is, nor how they're being paid.  As far as house payments and taxes & insurance, the ame applies.

I was working in the field of cullinary arts.  People still went out to eat, and still do.  My wife WAS a waitress.  My daughter and son-in-law are newly-credentialed teachers.  Neither one of them has a secure job.  So as far as recession-proof educators.....did you say recession-proof?  How many teachers have been laid off during the past 3-5 years?  Here in California, thousands.  Nurses are another story.  You will find that many are being "brought in" from the Philippines!  I know.  I'm married to a Filipino whose cousin IS an LVN, now retired.
