Love radiant orchid, Pantone's 2014 Color of the Year? More purple rooms to inspire you
In Nicolette Horn's Oslo, Norway, house, her daughter Karina chose purple for her bedroom, with China Seas Tableau wallpaper and China Seas Aga fabric for the headboard and dust skirt, all from Quadrille. The custom-made carpet and side tables are by Horn's Hong Kong–based partner, Leigh Chiu. The owl pillow is by John Robshaw.
Healing wanted the dining room in a Scarsdale, New York, house to be glamorous.
"I think of dining rooms as candlelit evening spaces, not daytime spaces," she says. The door to the butler's pantry is painted a custom high-gloss plum. HB Home chairs are covered in a lilac silk mohair from J. Robert Scott. Danieli chandelier and sconces from Niermann Weeks.
In a Summit, New Jersey, house designed by Kevin Isbell, subtle pattern was added to the entry hall with the Sahara rug and runner from Crescent Carpet.
"I started out as a painter, and I'd always add purple to other colors to give them depth and richness," designer Peter Vaughn says. "Lavender reflects light well, which is why you see it all over Scandinavia. In the depth of winter, it's a very cheerful color to walk into."

In David Kaihoi's small New York City apartment, paint signals an entry.
"We designated an entrance simply by painting a small outlined square just inside the front door," Kaihoi says. Walls are Purple Haze by Benjamin Moore.

"It's hard to make twin beds exciting," Phoebe Howard says of this bedroom in a New York apartment, but she did it by choosing Hickory Chair's Candler beds with high headboards and covering them in an overscale print, Seville Medallion by Galbraith & Paul. Bedding from Mrs. Howard.
In her mother's Southampton house, Ann Pyne added purple accents in the bedroom.
"I originally thought the guest room should have a queen bed," Pyne says, "but I noticed that my mother's friends like to put their clothes and things — or their pet — on one bed, and themselves on the other!"
