Study: Same-sex parents raise well-adjusted kids

After more than 25 years of research, the American Academy of Pediatrics has found no link between parents’ sexual orientation and their children's emotional well-being.

The hot topic of same-sex marriage headed to the Supreme Court today for arguments on its constitutionality.

Support for the legalization of same-sex marriage sits at 53 percent and a recent USA Today/Gallup poll shows that a majority of Americans say gays and lesbians should be able to legally adopt children.

Study says same-sex parents raise well-adjusted kids.

On Thursday, the American Academy of Pediatrics, or AAP, issued a powerful statement supporting marriage equality for all consenting couples, as well as full adoption and foster-care rights for parents regardless of sexual orientation, reports The Huffington Post.

“There is a lot of research to back up this policy,” Dr. Ellen C. Perrin, a professor of pediatrics at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston told The Huffington Post. “If a child has two parents that are dedicated and willing to provide a permanent, secure family, why would we not support that family? It's clearly in the best interest of children.”

In 2006, after 25 years of research the AAP concluded it had found no link between parents' sexual orientation and their children's emotional well-being.

“The statement by the AAP also reaffirms more than 30 years of social science research that concludes that children grow up with the same positive developmental outcomes whether their parents are of the same gender or different genders,” wrote a Family Equality Council spokesperson on its website. “More importantly, it matches the lived experiences of many of our parents who have raised a generation of children into young adulthood who are successful by every measure.”

In the United States, between 1 million and 6 million children are being reared by committed lesbian or gay couples.

That is such a load of  crap...I have known several "families" for years now Not one grew up "well adjusted"...They grew up confused,or on drugs and a couple of them are in prison...Not one went to college. not one can hold a relationship..and none have children...So how can they say that with a straight face? I have Nothing to say if you're in a gay relationship...except leave the children  out of it...to grow up "well balanced" would require a mother AND father figure..If they grow up gay then that is a personal choice...not pushed onto them by "parents" that want them to grow up like them

How about we look at the potential  psychological affects that children may exhibit once they become adults and not just limit it to their childhood experiences involving their emotional well being?  At such a young age, children's understanding of gender in its entirety is limited.

It's also very funny how many people in the LBGT community jump down the throats of people who are not in accordance with their lifestyle, but yet they want to be accepted and they want everyone to hear and value their opinions.  On the same token, those who don't agree with them are automatically labeled "homophobic."  This is a double standard.  Let's re-evaluate our definition of homophobia.

I saw a argument that procreation was between a man and a woman.  Two women can are are have children.  They make a sperm cell from a skin sell fertilize the egg.  They are currently doing this in the united states.  Males still need a surrogates.  But this is legal in most states.   The use to make egg by add x chromosome to egg cell.  Then fertilize it. This way two men can have a child.  It requires DNA from 3 people.  It has been abandoned in the united states for legal reasons.  Is still being done in other countries.

Not a good idea. The majority of little boys hate little girls and then one day they see girls in a different light. Please don't add to the confusion.
