Teacher tells kids Santa is phony

Texas kindergarteners are told that Santa is not real.

By Britt Olson MSN Living Editor Dec 6, 2012 6:18PM

Kindergarteners in Austin, Texas, may be tugging a bit harder on Santa’s beard this year after a teacher challenged their belief in the mythical Claus.

An after-school instructor at a public elementary school, referred to only as Mrs. Fuller in the Houston Press, bluntly asked the tots, “None of you believe in Santa do you?”

Photo: Echo/Getty ImagesAccording to one of Mrs. Fuller’s 5-year-old pupils, the teacher then told them that their parents buy all the presents under the Christmas tree. “She said that you should tell us the truth,” the young girl told her parents.

Susan Tietz Gammage, the girl's mother, is distressed about the teacher’s indiscretion, stating that it is not her place to challenge family practices or beliefs. School administrators addressed the issue by providing “tools to deal with the situation” to the offending teacher.

OMG, How DARE she not perpetuate a lie to our children...  We go out of our way to teach them all about how this "godlike" character, lives at the north pole, see's us when we're sleeping, knows when we're awake, knows if we've been bad or good, will sneak into our house and give us gifts, if we just sit on his lap and tell him our deepest desires and SHE goes and ruins it all by telling them it's all a big LIE.  Somebody should be ashamed!!!   ASHAMED!!!

I hold my parents in the highest esteem for allowing me to have the most wonderful, magical, happy childhood possible.  There is no joy like seeing the tree filled underneath with gifts from Santa.  I pity anyone who didn't get to experience this.

My parents were always straight up truthful with me growing up about the Santa "story" .

I always held them in highest esteem for not lie-ing to me like the other parents did to other kids.  I felt trusted and I would have felt pissed off if later on I was to discover the whole thing had been a lie.  It would have felt plain wrong.

However, I did understand the hoax was system wide and felt so sorry for the other kids my age who still got duped.  However, I did not go off and harrangue the kids against this  societal hoax.  I felt sad for them.

Seriously, just let them in on the hoax.  It will instill a better sense of trust.

What is wrong, unemployed 22, is the militant union socialist teachers are not required to teach reading, history, etc...the curriculum the taxpayers are expecting from the teachers supposedly working for the taxpayers. But teachers are now working for the Unions, emboldened from the protection the Unions give them. They indocrinate our children on  the evils of capitalism, religion and patriotism. They say NO to a student's mention of God in a poem, but encourage a student to sing gay marriage songs. Teachers are becoming obsessed with forcing their political agenda down our children's throats. We need to ban unions in public sector jobs.

This tyrannical mongoose is going to be given "tools to deal with the situation".  How can that be..She IS the TOOL. Yet, all we hear from the White House is that they need more of our money to make schools and teachers the best in the world.  Yea, Right.

Also, what does an AFTER SCHOOL  instructor teach Kindergarten children?  Perhaps an overpaid babysitter is her claim to fame.

that's wrong I know kids have to grow up but 2nd or third grade should be when they learn. Plus it is not up to the teacher it is up to the parents to inform their kids. I guess the way we are sliding down the third world education. I guess we can tell the kids there are no real teachers anymore just test monitors
