The fact is that the gun in the picture never made into the building and was found in the car.

i agree with brass1s Guns aren't going anywhere  the gun pictured shots and kills just like grandpa's did 80 years ago what did change  are people  there is violence everywhere we turn movies, tv, video games, internet couple that with drug use people don't know what is real and what is fantasy anymore. its not a gun issue but a people issue there is a lot more nut's out there today.

The fact is, you can go purchase several rifles like the Ruger Ranch Model Carbine that shoots the same .223 cartridge, in a semi-auto format, mounts the same scope and you can add a 30 round magazine..   These have been and will be available under the assault weapon ban...   because it shoots the same round, it will fire the same number per minute...   the real key here...  is that until you control those who are out of control, this will continue to happen...

I'd like to see what law you could write and enforce that would have caught this kid...  I sure can't think of one law that would have done... HOWEVER had his mother taken the time a year or two ago to have him committed, the lives that were lost might have been saved...

Guns aren't going anywhere so get over yourself. If the first person to see this kid was packing, this may never had happen so many lives would have been spared.
