In the wake of the unfathomable tragedy at Sandy Hook School Friday, people all over the world have been aching to do something, anything to help. The following are a few organizations that are accepting donations for the community:
The United Way has set up the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.
"United Way extends our most sincere condolences and prayers to all those families affected by the devastating events in Newtown/Sandy Hook, Connecticut. While the eyes of the world may be on Newtown/Sandy Hook, to several staff, volunteers and contributors, Newtown is home. We will stand with the community and everyone affected directly and indirectly by this tragic event as we face the days and weeks ahead," the United Way of Western Connecticut's Web site says.

The organization has also distributed food and water to first responders and is setting up a family reception center that will provide initial grief counseling, but they do not anticipate needing any more blood donations going forward. New York Times "Your Money" Columnist Ron Lieber posted the following suggestion on his Facebook page this morning:
Buy the community of Newtown, CT some breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can call King's Breakfast & Lunch at 203-426-6881 or call My Place Pizza at 203-270-7061. I told them to send pizzas and give meals to whoever needs it. I just called Kings and they were unbelievably grateful. Or look on Yelp.

Back-to-school shopping is still in full swing, and your little gents probably need some new kicks to round out their fall wardrobes (you already picked up some bold shoes for the little ladies in your life, right?).
Not every kid is a fan of returning to the classroom, so parents try to ease the blow with a little back-to-school shopping.
Would you rather be a parent now or then?
As all the kids line up to go to school, your son, Timmy, turns to you and says, "I don't want to take the bus. My stomach hurts. Please don't make me go." You cringe and think, Here we go again. What should be a simple morning routine explodes into a daunting challenge.
Learning these 10 things is a good base with which to begin the tough preteen and teen years. Helping our children maneuver life is our jobs as parents, even if we haven't quite figured it all out ourselves yet.
Is your teen about to attend one of these top-ranking schools?
We've all seen her... But should we judge her?
Gone are the days of mystery meat and the crabby, hairnet-wearing lunch lady. Across the nation, school lunchrooms are getting a face-lift and a menu makeover. In a few short weeks you'll be dropping your child off at college, where they'll spend the next four years learning, laughing, and probably partying. Of course, in true teen fashion, your child has already started shopping for their dorm room essentials. Don't panic just yet!
When tots burst through the door after a busy day at school, the first order of business is securing a snack.
The only thing more important than what you pack your child for lunch is what you pack it in.
