Stella, a Boxer, was pulled from a fire and revived by firefighters in California / KTLA via Life With Dogs

Firefighters in Santa Monica, Calif., found Stella, a boxer, behind a mattress in a burning apartment building on Saturday morning.

“If you walked in there and looked at it the first time through you wouldn’t see it,” said Capt. Jeff Furrows. “But she was obviously trying to get away — that’s what her instincts told her to do.”

Authorities pulled her from the blaze and spent 15 minutes using an oxygen mask to revive her. A crowd gathered, and they cheered and applauded when Stella finally came around.

She’s now recovering at a local animal hospital.

karen f., Stella is in fact a Boxer, her muzzle/snout is shorter and more compact than a Pitbull's muzzle. She is also too tall and lean to be a Pitbull. Pit's are shorter in stature and have more muscle mass on their frames versus Boxer's.

before anyone says "it's just a dog", remember that any rescue is a learning experience, the firefighters learn something even from saving a dog, that may be used next time when a person is saved. around here dogs and wildlife are sometimes pulled from icy waters by rescue personnel too.
