'They are becoming braver and bolder every day'.

These fennec fox kits are part of an international effort — they’re the first offspring to be born at Australia’s Taronga Zoo to mom, Kebilli, who came from a zoo in Poland, and dad, Zinder, who hails from a German zoo.

This means the three are part of a new bloodline of fennec foxes in the land down under.

The babies were born on Dec. 19, and have been starting to explore their surroundings in the last few weeks.

“They are becoming braver and bolder every day,” said the zoo’s carnivore keeper, Tamara Bell.

Fennec foxes are the smallest canines, growing to be only about 16 inches and 3.3 pounds. Their large ears help them release body heat, keeping them cool.

The kits’ keepers hope to soon be able to identify their genders and give them names.
