Deaf dog alerts owner to intruder
Bonnie, a deaf English springer spaniel, is credited with alerting her owner to the presence of an intruder.
Bonnie, a deaf English springer spaniel, is being credited with tipping off her owner to the presence of a suspected burglar in their home in Salem, Ore.
The friendly dog didn’t bark or growl at the intruder. Instead, she wanted to play. But the commotion she made at 6 a.m. on Saturday was enough for owner Dan Strasser to get out of bed and see what was going on in the living room. There, Strasser says, he caught the man trying to steal his laptop, and when he tried to escape, Strasser cornered him in the garage. He’s thankful to Bonnie for sniffing out trouble.
"She smelled him because she does have a very good sense of smell," said Strasser. "She jumped up and got all excited thinking someone was there to play."
