Dog accidently travels to Ireland
A 6-year-old English Springer Spaniel named Hendrix was meant to land in Phoenix but was put on the wrong flight.
Last week, Edith Lombardo-Albach brought her daughter’s 6-year-old English Springer Spaniel, Hendrix, to Newark International Airport to board a flight to Phoenix, Ariz.
Lombardo-Albach’s family is moving from Staten Island, N.Y., to Arizona, and Hendrix was going to be met by his owner, Meredith Grant, at the Phoenix airport. But just as the plane was due to arrive, Lombardo-Albach got a call from United Airlines, saying that the dog had mistakenly been put on a flight to Ireland.
"I almost fainted," Lombardo-Albach said, according to PawNation.
The poor pup had to fly back to New Jersey, and then on to his destination. The airline is “reviewing the circumstances surrounding the situation,” and offered the family a full refund for Hendrix’s $450 flight, said United spokesperson Megan McCarthy.

Poor doggy :(
Pet owners - please don't put your pets in cargo hold. These poor animals have no idea what's happening, where they are, why their master left them, etc. It's extremely traumatic for the animals and can even cause death in extreme situations. Please consider paying extra to keep the animal on the passenger levels or work something else out. They're depending on you, don't let them down.
This had to have been done intentionally for **** and giggles by a disgruntled employee or some other loser. Anyone with a half a brain could have made certain the dog got on the right plane. I flew back to PA from CA to pickup my border collie and rented a vehicle and drove across country and slept in the back of the vehicle with my dog and camped out in CO and UT before arriving to CA. There was no way I was placing my best friend in the hands of a bunch of morons.
I'll tell you why that dog went to Ireland--because United just outsourced it's entire cargo operation to a vendor with brand new off the street employees with ZERO cargo experience. UA outsourced it's cargo operations system wide (Continental did their own cargo) and told the employees, "Too bad, we're cheap and we have 7 billion dollars in the bank so we can afford a bunch of screw ups. Have fun with no job!!"
So, my advice to all cargo shippers, be extra sure you've got great cargo insurance on ALL your items because IAH, EWR, and CLE are now dead zones of inexperience. The company in CLE tried to ship dangerous good without including the paperwork!!
So, good luck, I'm glad Hendrix came back alive and be sure to keep him in AZ!!
