Cats are THE BEST pets, and each one has their own unique personality, just like people...I love our two kitties.

Cats rule! I love 'em all because they aren't at all like dogs and pick their own owners. If they like you, you will know it.

My cat not only leaves her "duty" on top of the litter, she will tell me about it! She meow's largely until I take care of it. Is this being clean and healthy, or just a "Miss Priss"? Love her - - even if it's just four in the morning!

We presently have 6 Rescue Cats, ages 7 to 19.  The eldest has a Heart Murmur and takes medicine twice a day. The 18 year old has been in and out of Diabetes three times. The youngest has a sort of Hay fever condition and needs a medicine she hates.  We cannot imagine life without this bunch although it is hard when they pass on.  We have always been fortunate in having cats in our lives and wish more people would take in the older ones - they are special.

Nothing "strange" to anyone who loves cats

& is owned by one (or 2, or 3, or more)!!

We've now had three cats that "chew" on things:
One liked to chew on bags and gift bows -- not swallow either of them, just pull them apart. It was her special treat to get a plastic bag to tear up or a bow from the hall closet to dissemble.
Another that likes to tear apart tissue paper or paper bags. Once again, she doesn't swallow them...but she likes to make the living room look like it snowed paper!
And our newest cat likes to gnaw on the kitchen table. Still have no idea why. She just walks calmly up to it, contemplates it, then hooks her jaw and sits there with her mouth around it. She's my very strange kitty but we love her!

I've read that the chattering at birds thing is actually to activate some really intense scent glands located inside the cat's mount.  They can't smell the bird because of the window, so they try harder by sucking in air through these special scent glands.

In regard to night yowling, my cat was recently diagnosed as hyperthyroid which is a very dangerous disease (and expensive to treat or cure).  If, in addition to night yowling, you cat ls eating like a horse, losing weight, and has a scruffy looking coat, take it to the vet right away.  And expect to spend a fortune.  My cat is having radioactive iodine therapy next month at a cost of $1,200.  The alternative ie daily medicine that costs about $700 a year, so the one-time $1,200 expense doesn't sound so bad.

Cats are just so much fun.  I have one that will bite you on the knee when he wants something and won't stop until you find out what it is.  He doesn't bite hard , just enough to get your attention.  I also have one that is addicted to rubber bands or anything with stretchy elastic in it, such as hair ties.I swear he can smell a rubber band from a block away.

One of my cats loves to chew, she doesn't eat or swallow anything but food, but she loves to chew on anything and everything. I love her dearly, but she is crazy. All 3 of them are rescue cats. Wish I could have more, but my hubby would kill me.

I never was into cats, but my son wanted one.  We adopted a 3 yr old and got him an automatic littermaid box so it would be easier for him to take the pooh out in cartons, and avoid smells.  She and I have become attached.  I recognize all those cat things.  Even when I am on the toilet she is head butting my legs.  I have had to shut her out of the bedroom because at 3 a.m. each night she wants me up.  She will purposely knock over everything on my night stand to make noise to get me up.

Dogs are part of the family..... but cats have staff.... You exist solely to serve their every need.

I've read that putting bells on the collars does no good at all. Birds and other prey don't associate a bell sound with a threat.

My cat has an inbred "loser" detector which he uses to scope out my dates.  If my cat dislikes a guy or just "stares" at him with that mean, "I hate you, loser - get out of my owner's life  glare, then I will not date that guy again.  My cat literally watches out for me.  I think he scopes out my boyfriends looking for low life vermin to eat!

"My" kitten loves to help me type. If I ignore her, she looks at me as she knocks the mouse off my desk, and lets me know that she wants attention, and she wants it NOW.

when a cat stares at you, he IS trying to control your mind!  they use mental telepathy better than any other creature!

I had a cat that liked to sing at night -- in the bathroom because the acoustics were better.  nothing was the matter with him.  he just liked to sing.

I have a friend whose 16 yr old call howls at night. He also has (the vet is not sure) cancer or thickening of the bowels. My friend does not think he is in pain but how would you know if a cat is in pain verses injured, in which case they would be howling.

Reading this article just confirmed what I always suspected: CATS ARE WEIRD.

Yup.

My cat is a vicious, serial killing monster that stalks and torture-murders butterflies and small animals.  Then sits and covers itself in cat spit.

Stupid cat.
