This burglar breaks into a house in the middle of the night and is looking around with a small flashlight when he hears a voice say "Jesus is watching you." He turns around to see a parrot seated on a perch. "Did you say that?" asks the burglar. "Yes" replies the parrot. "What is your name?" asks the burglar. "Moses" replies the parrot. The burglar says "What kind of an idiot would name a parrot 'Moses'?". The parrot replied "The same one that named his rottweiler 'Jesus'."

You gotta love that name!!!

My boss gave her dog one of the most fitting names I have ever heard.  When they first got their boxer puppy, her husband was on the floor playing with the pup.  When the puppy got a little to frisky and nipped her hubby's ear, the light went on her head.  Their ear biting boxer pup was immediately christened "Tyson".

We have a Female German Shepard named Lola and a Little Snouser/Maltese cross named Tic-Tic. Tic-Tic was 5 when we got Lola as a pup and established dominance. It is so funny to see a huge shepard cower to that little sh!t.

I have had many dogs over more than 50 yrs, but five stand out as amazing. Tim was my first Border Collie and quickly became quite a celebrity, working in search and rescue, visitation and obedience. He left me too soon at 6 due to poisoning.

McNeesh came at a hard time in my life and had the quiet composure to help me through things.

Jake hated sheep, although his BC breeding was stellar. What he did love was service/therapy work.
Sidney was a GR that we raised and trained for a mobility dog. He worked for a few years and then came home to retire. His quiet presence was great in therapy work as well as in the classroom. He died last March of cancer.

We see a lot of great dogs coming through our boarding kennel and we mourn the loss of each one of them.

Over the years my husband and I have owned German Shephards, with a tendancy to give them German sounding names.  My beloved white Shephard was named Hilda and my husband dogs names Austra, Sasha, Baron, Shadow, Panzer and Aedelle. But by far the best dog I ever owned was a mutt named "Gus" that I owned as a kid.  He was sooo smart.

I am an actor, and my wife and I are movie buffs. I think that the Eli Wallach character made the spaghetti western "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" the best western of all time., so we named our cat after him; Tuco Beneditto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez. (We just called him Tuco (`too-co). Later, a white cat with blue eyes appeared at our door. We adopted her and called her "Angel Eyes". Then another cat, blondish/orange appeared at our door. He decided to stay and we named him "Blondie". We had our trio, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

I am glad the name Heidi for a dog is phasing out. Nothing worse than someone remembering your name because they had a dog named Heidi.

Dogs I have known & loved: Friskie, Bozo, Inca,  Narcissus & Goldmund (from same litter),  Loki, Bear,& Teddie (we had them both at once), Moka (my big gentle giant--Newfie & Chow mix), Jack, and our current dogs, Breve' and Bear-it (a  pure bred Chow, 13 year old Humane Society rescue.  With the exception of Bozo, who got abandoned on us at 6 weeks old (to our delight--fell asleep in my husbands hat & was then a keeper) and Bear, all have been rescues from shelters and delightful children in our lives.  I love all dogs, wish I could rescue them all!!!

We inherited Hey Jude and Penny Lane (both cocker spaniels) from a friend that passed away, since then we've added Elenore Rigby (kitten), Lucy (in the Sky w/ Diamonds) (fish), and Sargent Pepper (fish).  The best part is my kids are obsessed with Beatles music trying to come up with new pet names so we escape the typical pre-teen Bieber craze!!

Over the years I have named my dogs: Rebecca (German Shepherd); Ramona (German Shepherd); Max (English Spaniel mix);  Sasha (Lab) When I was a kid I grew up with: Teddy (I sure he was a mutt of some sort but don't quite remember); Spotty (Dalmation); Dutchess (German Shepherd Mix); Sheba (I think this dog was a mix between a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua if you can imagine that!); Aiko, a.k.a Iko (a mix between a German Shepherd and an Irish Wolfhound) This dog was a piece of work....she would let anyone in the house without making a sound but would not let them leave without letting them know that she lived there.

Other dogs I know or have known or at least the one's I can remember: Lilly (Pitbull); Smokey (German Shepherd); Wanda and Marvin (s) Marvin was Wanda's offspring.  Sparky ().  I'm sure there were others....so sorry if I left anyone out.   Do you want to hear about the cats?  Actually the cats realy didn't need names.

Top 10 dog names of the year

We've already examined the most popular puppy names of 2012, but just finding out which names we're most likely to hear at the dog park wasn't quite enough. We wanted to look at which monikers were on the rise, so we dug a little deeper to determine the 10 trendiest names of 2012. To do so, we hit up Vetstreet's data, which includes information about 1.26 million dogs. We looked at where the names were in 2003 and 2012; those that moved up the most made the list. Of course, some names fell off the list completely in the past decade — Elvis, Ozzie and Cassie among them. Some of these were replaced by newer names like Thor and Athena that, despite a late entry to the Top 100, have become popular enough that they, too, were included.
